Listen in, listen Ian!
Last night I was really tired at about half past ten, so I went to bed, and naturally enough I woke up at half past six this morning. Have you ever been awake at half past six on a Saturday morning? It's rubbish - there's nothing on the telly, and nobody around on the internet.|
Today, I've mainly been walking - I went on a tube walk this afternoon from Dollis Hill1 to Neasden2 via Brent Reservoir, and this evening I walked up to Alexandra Palace to watch the excellent fireworks. I then walked back, stopping off for tapas OM NOM NOM. Now I'm tired at a sensible time, which is nice.
1I wondered if there's anyone living in Dollis Hill called Doris Hill. amuchmoreexotic said that she should be Chinese. I think he might be a bit racist.
2Heads, shoulders, Neasden toes, Neasden toes.
Many years ago, some friends of my parents - unknown to each other - regularly saw other on their daily commute. They sat at the same bench on the platform each day, while they waited for their train. Over time, friendship blossomed, and - as these things sometimes do - friendship turned to love.
They married, and started a family.
On their twentieth wedding anniversary, they bought the bench from London Transport, and it now sits in their garden - an incongruous sight in a suburban garden in Winchester (it has the Dollis Hill sign on the back), but really rather lovely too.
I'm quite often up at 6.30am, thanks to cats, and being used to getting up for 6am to go to work. You're right, it's boring - that's the time I use to watch all the catch-up TV on Virgin.

That or earlier every Saturday since Jack was big enough to get out of bed on his own.
You dunno yer born, m8.

It would be better if there really was a home improvement expert called Harold Hill from Harold Hill...
We walked to the fireworks too. I should have guessed you might have been going. We could have met up.
Wanna meet up soon anyway? Except I'm in Nottingham tomorrow, Hamburg Wed/Thu and Hong Kong for 10 days starting Sat, so it will probably be after all of that.
