He looks a bit like a generic braying public school twat to me. Hmm.

He's the down to earth but practical sidekick from the Pullman adaptations. Looks about 14 in them, so presumably they will be making him look a bit older for this...

I never saw those though. According to IMDB the only things I've ever seen him in are one episode of The Street and one episode of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.

I dunno, Davison was only 29 when he started, so it might well work out fine. I'm still disappointed that Paterson Joseph didn't get it.

PJ would have been fine, although I wasn't quite convinced that he could do quirkily likeable as well as sexily brooding. This chap is so young it'll be a completely new type of show, really. Which could be fun.

One of the reasons I wanted to see PJ as the Doctor was because I thought he'd move the character away from the grinning, jolly Tennant-era persona and towards someone more authoritative, stand-offish and possibly brooding; a much darker (ho ho) Doctor harking back to Eccleston a bit.

Good luck to the chap they've picked, though. I was a bit "oh, ffs" when I heard he was 26 but then I watched the Confidential and there's definitely something "right" about him.

I was a bit surprised, but not in a negative way. I really wanted Patterson Joseph but seeing as the Grauniad said this morning that it was strongly hinted that it was no-one that anyone expected then I was expecting someone pretty left-field.
