So far today [Jan. 24th, 2009|05:05 pm]
Listen in, listen Ian!
I got up too late to go and tubewalk in Acton, so I went to Holloway to buy a bird feeding station to put outside my window. I put it up when I got back, and so far I've seen a great tit pecking at the half coconut shell full of mysterious fat that I hung on it. There are blue tits too, and hopefully I'll end up with a huge variety of birds. I've put it so that I can see them when I'm sitting here at my desk. I wonder if I put a fish on it could I tempt the kingfisher across from the river?

If a straight line is the shortest distance between two points, then the longest distance appears to be the number 4 bus between Holloway Road and Archway station.

Hahaha at the number 4 which also sideswipes you from Angel to Holloway - although the 153 from Angel to Holloway dances an opposite and way more convoluted step.

One evening I caught the 4 from Waterloo to Angel. Stopped for a bit, and then caught another 4 to Archway. It does seem to delight in finging the most convoluted path it can without actually doubling back on itself or blatantly cheating by making every other stop Mornington Crescent.

I've got a feeding station like that! Although I didn't go with the Mysterious Fat as I have an abundance of starlings in the area and they would mob it and poo everywhere (and that leads my neighbours to put anonymous notes through my letterbox). I do have a very good Niger Seed feeder (similar to this one but only has 4 stations on it) which has been busily attracting goldfinches and what I think may be an immature greenfinch. Otherwise it's pretty much sparrows all the way for me.
