Listen in, listen Ian!
Not done much this weekend. Yesterday I went to Finchley to do a tubewalk which involved a magic winter woodland:

and a humourously named shop:

which is about all you can ask for on a day out. When I got back, I became tired and unfortunately fell asleep from about eight to half past eleven, which was a bit of a silly thing to do because then I couldn't sleep again for ages.

Today I didn't do much apart from going out to buy food, and cooking. I did a great chicken and tomato thing - fry some garlic in olive oil, brown the chicken and then add some passata, a can of chopped tomatoes and some basil and chuck it in the oven for an hour or two. It was great. I've also dicovered that I want to make this lemon and lime tart.

The other thing I've done this weekend is watch the first series of Skins. Yes, people who've told me it's good, it is isn't it?

Yes. But sometimes you just have to enjoy being wrong.

Series 2 of Skins was better. Still undecided about Series 3 thus far.

As someone who grew up in Finchley, I'm very protective of the honour of my area, so I feel it's my duty to point out that you missed all the best bits of Finchley, and actually quite a lot of your walk was through Fortis Green/Muswell Hill, which is a totally different place altogether. Even East Finchley isn't really Finchley... the people that live there describe it as Hampstead Garden Suburb. And North Finchley is pretty much Woodside Park. For me, Finchley is the area south of Finchley Central station, along Regents Park Road as far as the North Circular, and along Hendon Lane as far as the A1.

I admit it, I'm a Finchley pedant.

Is that magic winter woodland pic taken from Creighton Avenue? If so, we went past that yesterday on our meandering route that ended up near yours.
