Listen in, listen Ian!
Hooray! We're doing the Grand National sweepstake, and I've got Hear The Echo, which is a 16/1 chance. Adrian who sits next to me apparently wanted that one, but not enough to buy it off me for a fiver. Have you had your sweepstake yet? What did you get?

When I turn my new PC on it gives me a boot menu offering me a choice between starting Windows XP Professional and... Windows XP Professional. Well done there. Does anyone know how to stop XP patronising me - whenever I download an installer or some other bit of software from the internet and try to run it, it asks me if I really want to. Well, yes, that's why I downloaded it. I know my mind. Can I make it not do this? There must be a setting seven levels deep in an apparently unrelated bit of Control Panel, surely?

The "Information Bar" (and I use the term loosely) at the top of IE?

No, this is after I've downloaded it (in Firefox, obv), when I run the executable.

Do it with as many as you can, and if you don't get enough, give it to whoever places highest.

I have fixed the first one on W2K before. IIRC There's something obscure burried in the control panel that lets you choose what other things are on the boot menu.

I wouldn't want to turn off the XP download alert. It's annoying but I don't run executables from the internet on a daily basis, and this is a good way to catch any nasties that manage to use a script to sneak an exe to your machine and try and launch it.

I'm running our sweepstake and I have ollie Magern, who is a complete outsider but there'd be accusations of FIX if I won, so yeah.

I never do sweepstakes cause I like to choose which horse loses my money

This year it was a couple of Irish nags... I only did about 10 minutes study of about half the form, so no surprise, and it /was/ only money I've snarfed off the daily freeroll.
