That can't be right

Um, are you sure? When I arrived at Moorgate this morning, the northbound platform had an empty train on it and a load of disgruntled looking punters. The southbound platform was showing a 7 minute wait for a train. Then the empty train pulled out of the northbound platform and changed direction back onto the southbound, still displaying its northbound destination. It stood there for a couple of minutes while everyone ummed and ahhed about whether to get on or not, then it was announced as going south and everyone scurried on as the door closing alarm sounded instantly. In the meantime, a recorded message assured us that there was a good service in operation on the Northern Line.
