Listen in, listen Ian!
I've been browsing the online archive of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. This is - well, it's what it is, but it's a fascinating thing. American racist newspapers of 100 years ago are intriguing.

Also, Police report of 150 years ago today.

Mary Connor took a strange liking to two dress patterns - a cerulean blue and a burnt amber tinted brown - worth $5, on sale at the store of J.C. Moore, on the 24th of Dec. Mary, who hails from New York, blubbered a prayer, protested she didn't know what she was doing, having been keeping up "merry Christmas." The Justice said this was all "gammon," and sentenced Miss Flora McFlimsey to three months hard labor in the Penitentiary.

Marvellous.
