Listen in, listen Ian!
[music |Press Gang series 5]

When I try and look at my friendslist at work, the proxy stops me because it's too sweary apparently. I need a filter so that I can see a small group of clean living types. I need to know who qualifies for this list:

Poll #571285 Safe for Work

Do you use spellings like "fvck" and "cvnt" to cheat swear filters? Or are just unsweary anyway?

Yes. Take that, The Man!
No. I don't let The Man tell me what to write! I swear like billy-o!

My back hurts.

I only swear under journal cuts, and even then not too much. Not that I can post in the day now anyway, because I suddenly seem to have lots of WORK to do. Bah.

I don't swear, and anyone who does is weak. The language is so rich, so rich without these common, common words.

I go either way (ahem!) depending on whose comment box I'm posting to.

I used to swear whenever I felt like it on my journal (which wasn't hugely often, to be perfectly honest), and then more and more I started to notice people doing those "fvck" things and the like of which you speak. Eventually I figured out why, because they were all either starting to get Proper Jobs, or because I was adding people who already had them. So these days I try my best to keep that sort of thing either censored or, at least, under cuts.

I choose to see this as indicative of my friends list shifting more and more towards the mature, professional, worky types. Honest.

I don't tend to swear, but when I do rest assured it's because you all deserve punishment for making me angry.

Bugger is about my limit. And I say it in a terr'bly middle-class RP accented way, too, which probably translates quite well into my writing style. Sigh.

My mum reads my journal, so no.

I think I swear very little. Now and then I'll have a good old rant under a cut (last night for example, which is making me feel like a liar saying I rarely swear) but usually I have more inagination than that.

I try. I tend to use asterisks though, which I think The Man might be on to. I find deliberately typing '1' for 'i' and 'v' for 'u' a bit wrong. I don't mind reading it, but I can't quite bring myself to type it. It feels like I'm betraying the alphabet.

I swear in my lj only occasionally. Probably less than once a month.

I’m not sure that “fvck” and “cvnt” would get past swear filters anyway.

I swear like a fvck1ng b4st4rd in real life as you know. I swear much much less frequently on LJ because of people like YOU.
