Listen in, listen Ian!
I went to Islington Academy last night to see the Wonder Stuff. It's not easy to find is it? Despite being practically opposite the station there are no signs pointing at it, so I ended up walking down the road for ages, past Islington Green until it occurred that I must have missed it so I got a cab and got into the venue pretty much just as the band were coming on to the stage. They were pretty good but man, the people at gigs annoy me so much. People moaning about not being able to see - turn up earlier and then you can get nearer to the front. It's hardly a secret how standing gigs work is it? I was further from the stage than I'd have liked to me, but as I said I got there at the last minute, so I'm not complaining about that, it's my fault. People who go off and buy a round of drinks during the gig, and expect to just wander unhindered back to where they were standing. Are you here to drink or to watch the band ffs. Same question to the couple who spent practically the whole of the second encore - which was excellent as it was about five songs from Eight Legged Groove Machine - snogging in front of me. If you don't want to watch, fvck off to the back and let the people who do watch in peace. It wasn't really the snogging that annoyed me as much as the inappropriate bumping and grinding and resultant rubbing up against me. I was shoving it away about as hard as you can without actually starting a fight, but it made no difference.

The other thing that's having a bogus effect on my chi, man annoying me at the moment is my mobile phone. It started playing up a couple of days ago - not sending or receiving texts properly, buttons stopping working, emitting laser death rays that killed oaps, stuff like that - and every so often it would just freeze up so that all I could do was take the battery out to turn it off and try again. It's got steadily worse over the course of the afternoon so that now it doesn't boot at all - it just freezes on a white screen. I thought I should mention this to O2, but I decided that I'd get round to updating my current address with them a mere 9 months after moving house. The website wouldn't let me, telling me that my address was invalid even though it had filled it in. Tsk. This is going to be fun isn't it? And yes, I know you did Vic. Oh well, I've been on this contract nearly ten months now, so the worst thing that can happen if they mess up sorting it out is that I cancel the contract and get a new one, though it's a pity if I have to move as I like the tariff I'm on - I don't think I've paid for a domestic call or text message since I got it.

Never mind all that though, it's nearly the weekend, and it's The London Maze on Saturday which isn't as exciting as its name suggests, but I might go and have a look at it anyway.

Yes, it's very easy to find. But then it is at the end of the road I used to live on and they were building it while I lived there.

You got a cab from Islington Green? Couldn't you have asked someone?

I could, but it was past nine, and I just wanted to get there as quickly as possible.
