Other business [Aug. 14th, 2007|02:10 pm]
Listen in, listen Ian!
I bought a sandwich toaster at lunchtime, mainly because they're so cheap.
Argos have one for £4.97 - at a price like that for high
quality1 gadgetware you just have to buy buy buy
really.Sorry, the environment. Toasted sandwiches for tea
then - hot dog, cheese and sweetcorn perhaps.

A few weeks ago there was discussion in the comments of one of my posts
about the origins of the phrase 'X, you magnificent b@stard.' which turned
out to be from some war film or other. That wasn't where I knew if from,
obviously, and I suspected I knew it from Seinfeld. I found out last week
that I did, it's from the episode where Jerry is in competition with his
girlfriend's step-mother for the number 1 spot on her speed dial and when
he achieves it he says to himself, "Seinfeld, you magnificent b@stard!" So
now you know.

1Quality may not be high. I haven't used it yet.

Yes, definitely get the next series - I've watched it all over the last couple of weeks and I think it may be my favourite series.

You're welcome! Which is she, a magnificent bastard or a big fan of toasted sandwiches?

A sandwich toaster was my first ever kitchen gadget - one of those Breville seal-the-edges jobs my aunt bought me when I went up to University.

Is it at all possible to create a sandwich in one of those machines that does *not* come out so hot that it will remove the skin from the top of your mouth ? Of course, cheese-and-tomato is a particularly fine performer in that regard. The sealed edges are also fairly inedible, if recall correctly.

My first ever kitchen gadget was a combined corkscrew and bottle opener thingy. My second was a hand blender. Can you guess which one gets more use?

You're not using enough cheese.
Also, the best of all is cheese and branston sandwich pickle. And then for pudding banana honey and nutella.

Bananas are disgusting, but ideas including nutella could work. What about just making a toasted nutella sandwich and then serving it with ice cream?

Hot dog, cheese and sweet corn is one of those interesting combinations that is not only a bad thing but which all the sub-combinations are bad too (of course, it helps that I don't like hot dogs, but still)! :)

I love cheese! I just don't like cheese with either hot dogs or sweet corn.
