Listen in, listen Ian!
Aagh, busy busy busy, but I have to just tell you about one of the train
manager's announcements on the hideous overcrowded train journey home
yesterday afternoon, when the train stopped somewhere in the West Midlands
for no apparent reason.

"We're sorry about this delay - we've been stopped at a red signal, and the
driver's just been on to the control room to find out why. It seems that
there are some kids in the area throwing things at trains from a bridge, so
we're going to advance cautiously, and see if we can see them and throw
stuff back at them."

This used to happen a lot in the Stoke<->Birmingham sort of area. The Birmingham to Cambridge train would sometimes start from Liverpool, and get delayed due to asshats doing stupid things. This meant getting to and from university could take an entirely random amount of time. Bastards.

Hurrah for train managers with a sense of humour!
Boo to stupid kids.
