Listen in, listen Ian!
Is it too late to have a New Year's Resolution. If not, then I'm going to have "Go to more gigs" as mine, as it started well last night and I want to carry on.|
About a week ago I downloaded the Sweeping the Nation Class of 2008 bands to listen for next year thing. After listening to it, two of the bands whose names I'd written down to investigate further were The School and Club 8, and when I did that investigating I noticed that they were both playing last night at The Luminaire, so I went to see them.
The School were on first, and they were ace. The singer seemed a bit nervous but the songs were lovely, with great violin melodies going on. The Would Be Goods, who drummygirl had turned up to see were on next, and they were good too - drummygirl's friend Pete out of Scarlett's Well was on guitar for them, and I want his guitar, it's fantastic. Club 8 were last, and I really enjoyed them too, and bought their album on the way out.
While I was there I picked up a flyer for this show in Chalk Farm, so I'm going to go and see that next. Perhaps I'll pick up a flyer there too, and carry on with this crazy indiepop journey.
