Listen in, listen Ian!
In the interview with the Sunday Times, Ms Smith was asked why she would not feel safe on Hackney's streets at night.

She replied: "Well, I just don't think that's a thing that people do, is it, really?"

How detached from the real world? Let me count the ways.

Best bit:

"The aide added that Ms Smith had recently "bought a kebab in Peckham" "

Re: Best bit:

Yeah, and with a whole detachment of bodyguards just off-camera. Who also ate the kebab for her - who knows where it's been?

Bought a kebab in Peckham, eh? She must be street and down with the kids then.

I dunno, at least she's honest. I mean, I probably wouldn't walk home on my own after midnight wherever I was. I just don't feel safe, and since, off the top of my head, I can think of at least four acquaintances who have recently been mugged or sexually assaulted near where I live in Glasgow, I don't really feel that it's being overly cautious, either. I know the bit about it "not being a thing that people do" and the whole kebab thing is a bit cringeworthy, though.
