Listen in, listen Ian!
I was complaining the other day to offensive_mango about comedy films, and the fact that in general they just aren't as funny as other things dubbed comedy. I remember hearing Mark Kermode review some comedy thing once, and he said that as he laughed about six times - in 90 minutes! - it succeeded on the comedy front, which is pretty poor really. If I watched a half hour comedy on the telly and only laughed twice, I'd write it off as a dead loss.

So, I was pretty dead set against comedy films in the 'things that aren't a waste of time' league table, but tonight I finally got round to watching Little Miss Sunshine, and joy of joys it was actually properly funny. I laughed a lot, and not just little bits of laughing, big laughs. it was excellent.

Other excellent things tonight included the omelette I made for my tea, with some of the Swedish sausage I got at IKEA, and peas and cheese. And toast.

So, that's one of the outstanding DVDs to watch ticked off. Ooh, only about, erm, loads to go.

Not yet, but it's on my to-see list. This usually means that I see a film withon about 2 years or so, but I almost saw this on Saturday - I was passing a cinema and looked but I'd missed the last showing until 23.00. I'll probably see it soonish though.

I don't buy many dvds, but I think I might pick it up once its released. I've inadvertently seen it twice at the cinema now.

Quite. 'Juno' and 'Superbad' were both sold to me as funny, and neither was. At all. I didn't laugh once.. although Superbad was so appallingly anti-funny that I walked out (for the first time ever) after 40 minutes. Perhaps more accurate to say that the first 40 minutes were about as funny as cancer.

Of course, there are rumours that Juno has been virally marketed as a 'cult' film before it was even released (hmm), and that it has a deliberate anti-abortion message. Well, nuts to all that, I didn't like it because it was shit.
