It was horrendously derivative, and the sole reason he gave Raquel a sonic screwdriver seemed to be so that he wouldn't have to think of proper resolutions to situations he wrote himself into. He really is a shocking writer isn't he?

Especially the shite SFX on the cheese-wave. After the quite impressive Close Encounters style nursery ship, they do that.
