Woo hoo! [May. 21st, 2008|10:59 pm]
Listen in, listen Ian!

Hmm. I've just about recovered the power of breathing. It's a glorious day - probably too hot, in all honesty - in Atlanta, and I've been hiding away in my hotel for the last 3 hours watching football, and it was, like, totally worth it. Atlanta isn't that exciting a city as it turns out - there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not very exciting. Better to waste an afternoon here in the hotel, than in New York.

Right, I'm off to the baseball now.

Highlight of the night was hearing Edwin say "fucking hell" when interviewed by Clive Tyldesley post-match...

I will pay you monies to pick one up for me, they won't ship them to the UK. DASTARDS!

G's work took him to some Microsoft thing in Atlanta in 2001 and I tagged along for the ride.

I enjoyed wandering around Sweet Auburn and all the Martin Luther King stuff round there in Atlanta. The CNN tour was fun, but we were in a small group which always helps. Whatever you do, don't do the Margaret Mitchell tour. Even if the person you're with really, really wants to do it. You may end up wanting to bludgeon the tour guide to death with a Scarlett O'Hara themed Barbie doll.

We went on to New York from Atlanta and it took me a couple of days to adjust to the change of pace. Have a good trip!

I think the problem isn't so much that there's nothing at all to do, but that there's nothing much to do that doesn't cost money. I did the CNN tour, which was good, and I went to the aquarium which was also good but I've been to loads of aquaria and there's not much difference, although this one wins because it has sea otters.

There's just not much of interest to see by wandering round the streets, which is always something I enjoy doing in places.

True. And if you do choose to wander about the streets a tourist policeman on a Segway may stop you to ask if you're ok and then give you a funny look when you say you're just out for a walk.
