Listen in, listen Ian!
Museum of American History is closed for renovation at the moment which upset me because it's probably the best museum I've ever been to. This two weeks needs to be two months really. Two days wasn't enough to do more than scratch the surface of Washington - even though the |
I come home the day after tomorrow, which is rubbish as there's still a ton of stuff I want to do: I want to walk across the Brookly Bridge and see this, and I want to go to Coney Island, and I'd quite like to go to the New York Transit Museum, and I have to do more shopping tomorrow - must buy lots of Mets stuff, and possibly another bag to bring stuff I've bought home in, and there are big bits of Manhattan I've not been round yet. Need more time here.
Yesterday I went to Central Park, or at least I went to a tiny little bit of it, what with it being so vast and glorious, and I thought it might be the loveliest place in any city in the world, until today when I went to the Bronx Zoo, which is even lovelier. Right in noisy New York, but it's so incredibly peaceful, and I'd have been happy to pay the entrance fee just to wander round the park it's in even without the tigers, and bears, and zebras. There are loads of non-zoo animals running round - there are black squirrels, and lots of chipmunks - there are chipmunks all over the place in America, a bit like there are squirrels in London, it's great - and loads of birds that we don't get in the UK - I've seen Jays, and American Robins, and Red-winged Blackbirds amongst others. It's a brilliant place.
