atommickbrane gave me D.
1.Diversion Girl - The Temporary Thing
I can't remember when I first heard The Temporary Thing, but I'm glad I did, as they're just the kind of jangly guitar indie I like. They're an LA band, seemingly trapped there either due to opportunity or inclination to go any further. I occasionally check their myspace page to see if they've suddenly and unexpectedly announced that they'll be playing in London. They never have.
2.Don't Stop - Pocketbooks
More jangly. Pocketbooks are a band I've seen a couple of times recently in London and they've impressed me both times. Not much more to say about them. I like them though.
3.Dirty Snow for the Broken Ground - The Gentle Waves
The Gentle Waves were ex Belle & Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell's side project when she was still in the band. I say side project, but the list of familiar names on the album suggested that it was less side project, more the same band with someone else in charge. And none the worse for that.
4.Darling, Let's Have Another Baby - Kirsty MacColl and Billy Bragg
Cover of a song by Kirsty's former Chiswick Records labelmateJohnny Moped from a Radio One session in the 80s. Excellent, obviously.
5. Doctors Song Demo - Monty Python
This was a bonus track from the recent re-issue of the Contractual Obligation Album. In its final version, it was the Medical Love Song but it starts with a D here matey, and I'm having it.
