Good things today [Aug. 1st, 2008|01:29 am]
Listen in, listen Ian!
- I did an exam, and passed it when I was, like, sure I'd failed! I'm now qualified to administer investments which seems a bit unlikely. I think I even get to put letters after my name.

- I got a letter from EDF (booo!) telling me that as I was on a fixed tariff, my energy bils won't be going up. Thanks, the people who lived here before me, I guess. I don't remember choosing that anyway. It's far too much like sound planning for me to have done it.

- I went to an excellent gig tonight - Pocketbooks, The Smittens and Ballboy, and they were all excellent. The best £4 I've spent for ages. Ballboy had never really crossed my path before, beyond a vague awareness that they were there, but my, they're good.

I'm a big fan of ballboy. When I was down in Cambridge, my best friend at work lent me a tape of a Peel show, mainly because it had Schneider TM's version of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out on it, but what jumped out at me even more was a song by a band called ballboy that I'd never heard of. I didn't find out for a while that they're from Edinburgh, or for a while after that that at my previous job I'd worked with the guy who put their records out, or until I'd moved back to Edinburgh that the band and I have at least one friend in common (although this still only means that I've talked to exactly one member of the band exactly once).

Congrats on passing the exam! Only slightly relevant, but I'm now trying to remember where my IMC fits into the grand scheme of these qualifications!

Does this mean we should talk to you about money, then?
