Listen in, listen Ian!
Can has iPhone! OMG!|
Current iPhone users, I need your help. What are the best applications to use - including just the web browser if it's any good -, the freer the better for the following:
and what otherapps are just good to download?
LJ: the official LJ client, but it sucks because it doesn't have landscape keyboard.
Twitter: Twinkle is pretty good.
Flickr: Mobile Fotos
Facebook: Official Facebook client is good, although it has a slightly different feature set to the iPhone version of the Facebook site, which has a slightly different feature set to the general mobile version of the site, and none of them let you do all the things you can on full Facebook.
tvGuide, TubeStatus, Stanza, Remember The Milk (requires subscription after trial period), Comiczeal, Vicinity, Urbanspoon, Shape Services IM+, FixMyStreet, Shazam, any game by ngmoco.
Actually, Tweetie is apparently better than Twinkle in the Twitter app stakes. Also, unless you have memorised the tube map it is well worth buying Tube Deluxe.
Yay! They're great aren't they?
some bubblewrap poping thing
Bloom (it's ace! It costs money but it's worth it!)
Lightsabre (so cool!)
That labyrinth one with the ball bearings
A to do list thing I've never used
and hmm...probably loads more I've forgotten....
oh yeah, shazam, that's good too. I had a game called jellycar as well but it was TOO TRICKY even though it looked nice. Oh, and the backgrounds app so you can get loads of pretty pictures...
The labyrinth one is very very very good! I wouldn't play it all day, but it provoked a serious caveman/Hansel "how did that tiny ball get in there" reaction from me.
on my touch (not phone) i only have twitterific and facebook because i am rubbish.
what i'd reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally like is the FAP APP:http://www.snaptu.com/a/fancyapint
but they don't seem to do it for iphones...
the main ones we've got are the majority of free ones in the top 10 - there's some good games in there. PacMan is good, there's a load of card games, oh just tons of stuff.
Lj.app is a bit silly, as it tells you exactly where you're posting from (though you can switch it off), so people can work out exactly where you live.
I'm currently trying to have fun with the iTunes remote control, got to sync it up with someone's computer at work, wait until they take over the stereo, and then change the song they're playing to freak them out (without them knowing). Oh hilarity...
Oh, btw - Oliver tickets are here!
There's a great application which you can add your favourite stations - we can only use it wifi, but with an iPhone you have the additional network stuff, so it'll tell you your local stations and the times of the trains - something like MyRail or something. It's free, anyway. Don't pay for anything unless you have to, there's always a free equivalent.
Ta for that lot.
Do you need the Oliver money now, or when we go?
When we go is fine - I can buy a mug or something then!
Btw, this was posted very easily from my ipod, although predictive text drives me mad (and you can't switch it off)
in fact, I'm bored so I'm logging onto iTunes so I'll get the names right.
Google Earth (of course)
Pac-Man lite (old school)
Blocks Classic Lite (fun)
Free Translator (handy)
Bubblewrap (pointless, and don't buy the proper one, as it's a rip off, but worth spending 45 seconds of your time on)
iFooty - rss from the BBC for your team
Wifi Checker - will check for other networks, good for finding open ones that the iPod wont find automatically
ReMovem (free) - bought this one in the end, simple but fun. There's extra games on the paid version.
Remote - get it - see above
I don't LJ or Flickr from my iPhone but Facebook have their own perfeclty decent app and I find Twitterfon works fine too.
