Listen in, listen Ian!
I've been reading about famous cats on Wikipedia.

All Ball was a pet cat of Koko, the famous gorilla living in Woodside, California, who communicates through sign language. In the summer of 1984, Koko asked her trainer, Dr. Francine 'Penny' Patterson, for a cat.

Now, I believe that the cat would be a companion for the gorilla, but I'm not convinced that the gorilla asked for the cat. Why would the gorilla have any concept of pets?

Chico is a cat who is the narrator of an authorized biography for children of Pope Benedict XVI.v

What a strange sentence.

Tama, (たま ?, born April 29, 1999) is a calico cat who is the station master at Kishi Station in Kinokawa, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

I read about Blue Peter pets. The section on George sounds a bit sinister - George made his last appearance on the show on 14 April 2004, and his death was announced on 10 May 2004. - as if George had been whacked for leaving the mob. Also, "In 1988 George caused a scare when the home where he was kept had a break-in and he went missing. Thinking he had been killed, the production team broadcast a special tribute film about him, but George was found by a neighbour walking her dog some days later." makes it sound like George was walking the neighbour's dog.

Bear in mind that Penny Patterson got in trouble for making a female subordinate get her tits out because "the gorilla liked it." It's not the gorilla speaking, Penny subconsciously prompts the gorilla to make signs and interprets what it's saying. Penny wanted the kitten.
