Listen in, listen Ian!
Fossas, which I'd never seen before, and some mongooses(mongeese?) who shared my birthday. And otters and penguins and monkeys and zebras and giraffes and stuff like that. Then the wedding in the evening was lovely, in an old country house that had what looked like a secret passage, but was in fact just a cupboard full of lever arch folders. The weekend was lovely - yet again, the right mix of doing nothing and doing something. The nothing was Friday night, and most of yesterday. The something, was Katy and David's wedding on Saturday, which was lovely, and whatever else people on your friends page have said it was. Unless they said it wasn't lovely. It was in a zoo, where there were all kinds of cats - tigers, leopards, a snow leopard, cheetahs, sand cats, ocelots. Also, there were |
Yesterday I went to look at the new Waitrose in Crouch End, which turns out to be utterly pointless - they sell absolutely nothing that I can't get in Budgens, so will continue to do so. They don't even have the nice crumbly Lancashire that some branches of Waitrose sell.
Anyway, enough of all that weekend news, because I know what you really want to know is the result of the sausage competition from Friday. The correct answers were, of course, bratwurst, chorizo and morcilla. The scores were as follows:
In 8th place, with half a point for "German sausages hollowed out to contain a rolled up copy of the Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" is mia_oia
In joint 3rd place, with one point each were carsmilesteve, offensive_mango and lebeautemps for getting chorizo, bonyandidle for getting morcilla and zagreb2 for getting bratwurst.
In 2nd place, with one and a half points for getting chorizo and black pudding is nou. Sorry, but I was specifically looking for morcilla. And someone has to win, otherwise there will be no losers crying and being told by their parents that they're useless, and that would only upset Jeremy Clarkson.
Which means the winner, with two points for guessing chorizo and bratwurst, is huskyteer! Sadly, there's no prize, it was just for fun,
but I'm sure if you get in touch I can arrange to give you some of my sausage.
And a big thanks to everyone who entered.
I don't even know what morcillo is! I possibly had the advantage as I entered after your edit encouraging us to think global.
I should be less specific - I specified a type of bratwurst, Nurnberger (which I'm told is the best bratwurst in Germany) :P
Also I thought chorizo was a bit obvious so skipped it, serves me right for trying to be a smart arse.
Yay for morcilla though.
Ah, well, I've just seen that these are Thuringer bratwurst, so you were indeed too specific.
