Listen in, listen Ian!
Einy Shah, member of the Mayor of London's Peer Outreach Team - whatever the hell that is - says £150k pa in London is not "enough to get by in London".
Also, "we should bring back good ol' fist fights".
I've worked with the Mayor of London's Peer Outreach Team, and he's certainly not one of them. Nor does he run the team, because I've met the woman who does that as well. I have no idea what his connection with the team is (it's a team of young people who work with other young people in London on community issues)
A quick Google suggests that she's one of the young people, and is in her first year of university, which makes it understandable that she has almost no concept of how much it costs to live. (And maybe that she's not "reaching out" to a very diverse group of people.)
OTOH getting annoyed about 19 year olds saying stupid shit is probably not the most productive thing in the world.
Ah, my mistake. Still don't recognise her though.

I thought it was something to do with the House of Lords.
I'll eat owt that can't explain Pythagoras's Theorem
I'm sure she'll want to pay us all a living wage, so that's okay.
My God, I had a brief read through her blog, and it so utterly screamed of "upper class posh girl with absolutely no clue about how the world works" that I had to stop reading before I put my fist through my PC monitor.

I had a look at it earlier, and believe me, this is a car-crash blog of Jackie Mackie Poopie Passey proportions. It reads as if it was written by the bastard child of Nadine Dorries and Irfan Ahmed.
As someone who goes to London Met(with self confessed terrible A Levels. I'm not proud, honest) I doubt she is that posh and if she is she must be constantly mortified but who she bumps into on those very busy corridors. Many of the international students have access to that kind of money but I'd say a lot of London Met students are very poor(Many of my peers in a reasonably respectable class of History students) are entitled to London Metropolitan's bursary (up to a £1000 every year)
London Met does appear to offer a LLB, so why she is forcing herself to pay more tuition fees by having to do an extra course I don't know. One thing in its favour though. It has a mock courtroom! http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/pgprospectus/campuses/home.cfm
Shame LMU didn't seem more aware of law when it was conning the government out of millions of pounds
I suspect Boris has only employed her services due to diversity and that.
by disaster area I was mainly referring to the various financial difficulties I'd heard about- I know bugger all about the academic standing to be honest
Now I look mental and defensive :) I completely agree with the "disaster area" comment. LMU has been threatened with immediate closure twice because of the fraud and issues surrounding it.
However I think the university's tendency to grab vulnerable students out of clearing is the main cause of the woes. People aren't happy so they run off either at Christmas or once the first year has ended. I think the university in some ways(before they got caught) liked the situation because they got ridiculous amounts of money for nothing(which as student, I'm not 100% sure where £56 million has gone)
So back on topic-I'm amazed this girl hasn't used her connections to transfer to a better university.
Reminds me of a friend's story: he was a teacher at a poshish London school - West London somewhere I think - and overheard once of the pupils saying "of course the teachers earn more than a hundred grand a year... my dad says you couldn't even live in London on less than that".
It actually makes me feel less hostile towards the rich, that they probably do think the rest of us are all a lot better off than we are...
