Listen in, listen Ian!
This isn't going as well as I'd hoped. Here, as a placeholder, have a poll like it's the olden days.
What is the best flavour of crisps?
Cheese and Onion
Salt and Vinegar
Other, because I'm some kind of pervert
Cheese and Onion is my preferred crisp, but Ready Salted is the only one where if I want it then it has to be that and no other crisps will do.
But now I've remembered prawn cocktail, which is awesome. Pink! And tasty!
Salt and vinegar crisps are not good, they hurt to eat.
Ready salted and salt and vinegar are the two worst and most boring crisp flavours in existence. Cheese and onion passes the minimum flavour threshold and will do, but frankly what with all the beef/barbecue/chili flavours out there, why would you bother? Although round here, the best flavour is definitely satay. Peanutty-spicy with a distinct hint of lemongrass, and on decent thick crunchy crisps too. Wij willen Croky!
Cheese and onion is not only revolting but makes one's breath stink for hours (I don't understand people who like raw onion in salads, either). Paprika's quite nice, but otherwise salt and vinegar or ready salted- you know, the crisps that actually taste like potatoes- are the best; most of the flavoured ones just taste artificial.
I don't even LIKE crisps but I ate some last week which were Walkers Mexican chipotle flavour or something and I almost fell over, they were that good.
I was just yesterday musing on what the fundamental English deficiency of character is that causes them to consider "Ready Salted" an acceptable flavour.
Prawn cocktail, or cheese & ham (scarce) or those walkers black thai ones which make your mouth hurt. Nice'n'spicey nic-nacs are good too.
Ohh I do like a nice'n'spicy Nic Nak too.
Beef Monster Munch. Beef Mini Chips. Beef Discos. Although bacon Rancheros are pretty awesome too.
